My name is Celeste Loiselle. I am twenty four years old, and I have lived in Kamloops for the last 6 years to attend university. While I have been attending university to pursue my education career, I have worked at Red Robin part time as a server and bartender to help cover the cost of tuition. I am very proud of my hard work and dedication as I have been able to attend university without any student loans. I am a firm believer that a person is capable of doing anything they set their mind to, and I am proving that to myself over this educational experience. Before I moved to Kamloops, I lived in a small town that is an hour away called Ashcroft. I grew up in Ashcroft my entire life, a small town that holds a lot of potential. I did not have the best relationship with my mother growing up, so I looked to school as my second home. My class and teachers were the best support system that I have ever had. My teachers made me feel confident in myself. They made me feel important and loved. If it wasn’t for the teachers I had to guide me through elementary school and high school, I don’t think I would be as successful as I am today.

There has not been a time in my life where I have not thought about becoming a teacher. If you asked me in grade one what I wanted to be when I grew up, the answer would have been a teacher. Becoming a teacher is not only a career path to take, it is a piece of who I am. I feel so blessed that I get to learn more about myself in the education program at Thompson Rivers University.  I hope I can make a positive influence in my students lives, and offer them support in ways that they need. I want my students to recognize how much potential they have. It is my duty as an educator to help my students achieve this.
